Immer Lustig Germanic Folklore Group turns 35

Germanic peoples have always had three fundamental pillars: education, religiosity and culture. In colonization, the first buildings were a church, a school and a hall, thus highlighting the characteristics of a people dedicated to community life and family.
The Immer Lustig German Folklore Group was founded by members of the Evangelical Community of Lutheran Confession in Brazil of Santa Maria (IECLB-SM) on July 25, 1984, a date that also marks the arrival of the first German immigrants to Brazil in 1824.
At the foundation, 10 couples of German origin and one couple of Italian origin were present. This diversity remains in these 35 years, regardless of origin, religion and other individual characteristics. Immer Lustig will always be a welcoming family interested in German culture.

These are the feelings of those who are part of Immer Lustig, which, during its history, had over 1,000 members. All very important, as they helped to build an organized, happy group that loves to dance and sing.
To the members:
Who has never had a great love in the group? Did you make a friendship for life? Did you support and/or vibrate with group and/or personal achievements? Who doesn't remember the IECLB-SM dance parties? So much fun, help and interaction with the community. Divergences? Of course, it's a family. And the whole family has it. But always together they overcame adversity and overcame daily obstacles to keep German culture alive. Many met in the group, got married and had children. Some will even meet or meet and even have children and grandchildren, dancers and singers. Renewal is key.
Many things have been achieved over this time. The costumes, for example. The first was simple, cheerful and light. There are still some in the collection. The second was velvet. The boys in green and the girls in red or black. Then came the RIBBON COSTUME in 1996, still worn today. In the first folk costume, how many sweets and raffles did it take to realize this dream? In 2002, the group debuted the AUSTRIAN COSTUME. Beautiful, pompous and imposing. Many group meetings in Itaara between 2000 and 2002, Novemberfest, 2001 and 2002, and Oktoberfest, 2003 and 2004, were held to make this dream possible.
Many years have passed and in 2014 the group started a new stage for the dreamed BAVARIAN COSTUME, inaugurated with a beautiful party at Theatro Treze de Maio in 2017.
No less important were the trips to the most different places of the state and beyond. There will also be an international trip, which will soon take place and should be the first of many.
Most important and valuable is the friendship, culture and folklore that has been alive for these 35 years. Perhaps, even in the European countries themselves, this period of 200 to 300 years that are cultivated in Brazil, is no longer so strong. After all, their life story is much longer. And when the immigrants arrived in Brazil, they brought these memories and culture that are preserved by the practically immaculate group, passed year after year to the new generations of members. All this, always watered by stories, stories and jokes, which gives meaning to Immer Lustig and makes the dances light and pleasurable and stirs the imagination, giving wings to dream.
Despite preserving the past, the group is modernizing, and is always up to date. Today, the travel list is made by the social network Facebook. Scraps are via Whatsapp. The photos and footage are published in real time on social networks, causing more than 100 songs to be danced from over 1,000 dances and over 50 different songs to be sung during the year.
All of this is done with great love for Germanic folklore, as the management team acts on a voluntary basis. They are the people who perform the administrative activities, such as management, who are concerned with the general organization and direction of the group; the coordination of children and youth dance, adult and instrumental singing, who spend days preparing rehearsals and performances; the secretariat, which writes minutes, makes calls, hires buses for trips, makes travel lists, organizes stopovers to support IECLB events, etc; the treasury, which strictly controls financial resources; as well as other sectors such as costume, collection, storeroom, marketing and advertising departments.
What about dancers, singers and musicians? They earn, distribute and share much love, friendship, companionship, joys and experiences that only those who rehearse can realize.
In 2017, with the support of IECLB-SM, the “Ein Prosit” Cultural Association was created to characterize the cultural, social and legal activities of the Immer Lustig Germanic Folklore Group, which remains an IECLB-SM activity.
The group recently approved the Santa Maria Pro-Cultura Notice with the project “The Professions for German Dance”, which is under development and will be presented in November at the Casusa.
The Germanic Folklore Group Immer Lustig had a great recognition in June, being elected by Santa Marienses as a Featured Culture during the prize promoted by the "DIÁRIO". Such representativeness is due to the tireless work and dedication of this committed team.
And for the next 35 years? Many news, projects, events, friendships, dance and singing are expected. All this for children and adults, from 5 to 90 years. Everyone can be part of this story!
